Understand how to take minutes of meetings

Case Study
Despite his good intentions Sunny did not make a very good job of the minutes for the adhoc select committee meeting formed to appoint a senior town planner. Many of the names were misspelt and he had included personal details of the applicants regarding their ages, religions and ethnicity.
The chairman had to virtually rewrite the minutes and he was not happy because he had to check some of the details Sunny had missed with the other attendees which he felt made him look unprofessional and wasted his time.
- What should Sunny have done at the meeting to avoid this situation?
- Why should the personal details not have been included in the meeting?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
