Case Study

You work as a room leader in a setting with 35 staff. You have been asked to select and lead a team of 8 people to organise a Sports Day for the children aged 3 to 5 years. You are aware that the Manager is giving you this role to see how you manage it and so it is important that you prove your ability to lead well.
  1. What will you consider when selecting your team?
  2. What will you do first?
  3. How will you organise the team?
  4. How will you monitor how well the task is progressing?
  5. How will you know if staff are struggling with their part of the task, and how will you support them?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
