Promote creativity and creative learning in young children

Case Study

You have received a complaint from the parents of a 4-year-old child in your care that you do not spend enough time teaching the children. They are concerned that their daughter seems to spend most of her time playing in the sand and water, or at the art table
  1. What does the parent’s complaint indicate about their view of how young children should learn?
  2. How can you explain to the parents about the important role that creativity and creative development have in the overall development of their child?
  3. How could you support the parents to develop their understanding of their child’s need to explore, experiment and create?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
