Case Study

You are a parent of a 3-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy. You have not been living the healthiest of lifestyles; you never liked exercise as a child and preferred to read or play computer games instead. You now have two lovely children, but realise they are just not as active as their friends and are starting to look bigger than you think is good for them.
- What can you do to introduce more activity to the family in a way that helps everyone?
- How will you get all family members involved in a way that ensures that the whole family want to exercise regularly?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the responses you have to the above scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague or friend and ask them to tell you whether they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
