Understand how to reduce the risk of radicalisation

Case Study
Jasmine, one of the girls you are friends with at college, has always said that she disagrees with religion. Over the years you have known her, she has had several arguments with her parents about attending religious events and dressing in a modest way.
Just recently, however, you have noticed that her style of dress has changed and she has started walking away from conversations that she says are ‘inappropriate’.
- Is this something to be concerned about?
- Do you think Jasmine has been radicalised and why?
- What other reasons can you think of for Jasmine’s behaviour?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
