Case Study

Mahmood is the HR manager for a supermarket chain in the UK – Fresh Foods. It has been brought to his attention by the manager of the Customer Service department, Jacqueline that there are going to be 3 vacancies in her department soon. Two of her members of staff are moving on to another job at a competitor and one of them is going on maternity leave.  The job vacancies are as follows: 1. Social media advisor (maternity leave) 2. Customer service manager 3. Customer service assistant – in store
  1. If you were Mahmood, how could you help Jacqueline fill these vacancies?
  2. What employability and personal and communication skills would you be looking for with each vacancy?
  3. Should Mahmood be concerned about the employees leaving to go to a competitor? What might that say about the compensation and benefits at Fresh Foods?
