The physical environment is extremely important as it supports and enhances the quality of the teaching and learning as well as playing an important part in the engagement and self-esteem of pupils of all ages and abilities.

It is especially important to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities that the learning environment is appropriate for their needs: small adjustments such as having resources clearly labelled, to greater changes such as changes in the layout of furniture in the classroom can have great effects on the engagement, progress and achievement of pupils with SEND.
