Understand how schools are organised in terms of roles and responsibilities

Case Study

Magda is 11 and has just moved from Poland to the UK with her parents. You have been told that she speaks and understands some English but is very shy. Magda has been assigned to your class and you have been asked to prepare some information for Magda’s parents about how schools in the UK are structured and the roles of the various staff they may meet.
  1. How will you explain your school staffing structure to Magda and her parents?
  2. In what format will you present the information?
  3. What information could you provide about any additional support or services that your school can either provide or facilitate?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
