Case Study
Rishi had a meeting with Celina and Shiraz to discuss the council’s newsletter and its contents. At the end of the meeting he summarised the main points that had been discussed. In his summary he mentioned the newsletter and the phone calls he needs to make, along with his plans for follow up emails. Unfortunately he leaves out the information that there is deadline of a week, and that there needs to be a team meeting the following week.Consequently Celina and Shiraz do not come to the meeting because Celina is on annual leave and Shiraz is already in another meeting.
- What was Rishi not doing at the meeting?
- What could he have done to avoid leaving out vital information in his verbal summary?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
