As children age and develop, they inevitably experience a number of different transitions and significant events which may impact upon them in different ways.

Download and read the NFER research document, ‘A Study of the Transition from the Foundation Stage to Key Stage 1’.
Look at your setting’s policies on settling a new child into the group and moving to a new room. Do you know them well? Do you follow them yourself?
Think about the feelings a child might have when coming into a new setting or room. At what parts of the day do you think they might need the most support?
