Case Study

You are SENCO at a busy setting. You work with a practitioner who is not particularly interested in Special Educational Needs, although she is otherwise a good practitioner. You are concerned that the SEN provision at your setting may suffer as a result.
- What are the practitioner’s responsibilities under the Special educational needs and disability code of practice: 0 to 25 years ?
- How could you support and equip this practitioner to fulfill their responsibilities under the Code of Practice?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
