The ‘Early Years framework’ looks at steps the Scottish Government, local partners and practitioners in early years services need to take to give all children in Scotland the best start in life. For most children, the Early level of the 3-18 curriculum (Curriculum for Excellence) provides the basis for their learning experiences in early learning and childcare (ELC) and Primary 1 (reception in England).
- Following the implementation of Curriculum for Wales in September 2022, foundation learning forms part of the 3 to 16 Curriculum for Wales and is designed to reflect the specific learning and development needs of children up to the age of 8 or learners who have additional developmental needs.
