Case Study
You are asked to lead a staff training session on the areas of learning and development. You are aware that some junior staff really need to understand how the areas of learning and development relate to the play activities that they prepare for children on a daily basis and how they are interdependent (i.e. an activity such as giving out snacks is an opportunity to develop personal, social and emotional development, mathematics and communication and language.)
- Using bullet points, identify the key points that you want staff to understand and know about the areas of learning and development.
- Take one activity and show how it covers several areas of learning and development.
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
