Case Study
In your group of students one has hearing and visual impairments, so far you have made sure he is near the front of the classroom, but through the assessment method you are using – you have been made aware that he is not progressing as well as you would expect and suspect he is struggling. Consider how you would deal with this.
- Who would you liaise with for guidance / advice?
- Do you need to evaluate the current assessment method?
- What reasonable adjustments may need to be made to assessments?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
