Your next-door neighbour is an elderly man who lives alone. He is a little frail but still loves to tend his garden and sit outside to read. You often knock on his door and ask if he needs anything when you go to the supermarket. Recently, however, you have noticed a number of people going into his house and the last time you knocked on his door a young man opened it and said that the man was sleeping. You realise you have not seen the man in his garden for a couple of weeks.
  • Do you think this is cause for concern and why?
  • What would you do about the situation?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the responses you have to the above scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague or friend and ask them to tell you whether they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
