Case Study
Your setting has just purchased some new tablet computers and e-readers for the pre-school class to use with the children. Your room leader wants to encourage parents to become involved developing the children’s digital literacy and has suggested that it would be a good idea to ask the parents to spend 15 minutes on the computer with their child playing a specific online educational game.
- What assumptions has your room leader made with regard to parental ability to take part in this activity?
- Should this activity go ahead if all parents are unable to take part in this activity?
- What arrangements could be made for those children whose parents are unable to take part in this activity?
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
