Aisha is a 14 year old Muslim girl who is in temporary foster care due to family illness.  Aisha is very quiet and shy.  Because of the shortage of Muslim foster carers Aisha is with a non-Muslim family comprising a 15 year old girl, her 17 year old brother and their parents. The family she is staying with are all very sporty but concerned that Aisha does not seem to want to join in with any of the family activities at the weekend. 1. What may be the difficulties Aisha is facing in this scenario? 2. How could you encourage Aisha to communicate with the family why she does not want to join in with the sports activities you have planned? 3. How might you show Aisha that you respect her choices? It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the response you have chosen to this scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague and ask them to tell you if they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your tutor.
