The childcare regulator, Ofsted, within their guidance ‘Evaluation schedule for inspections of registered early years provision’, has included a descriptor on Supervision. The outstanding descriptors are: “High-quality professional supervision is provided, based on consistent and sharply focused evaluations of the impact of staff’s practice. An astute and targeted programme of professional development ensures practitioners are constantly improving their already first rate understanding and practice.”
