We are going to think about the journey from the point you eat a banana to the point you stop exercising. Imagine you have done this, now think about:
- How has this banana been digested and absorbed?
- When it is digested what function do the mouth, oesophagus etc. have?
- How does this nutrient provide energy?
- Think about ATP production
Now we have digested the banana and waited we are now about to start physical activity, Think about:
- How does physical activity affect our skeletal system?
- How does physical activity affect our neuromuscular system?
- What muscles are we using?
- What joint actions are happening at each muscle?
- How does the physical activity we are doing impact our cardiovascular and respiratory system?
- What energy systems are we using during physical activity?
- If you change the intensity and duration of the physical activity you are doing how would this impact what energy system you use?
These are just a few questions to think about, but go through the journey in as much detail as you possibly can.
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the responses you have to the above scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague or friend and ask them to tell you whether they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
