You now need to put this all into practice. Either use a real case scenario or a made up one to go through the whole process of writing a programme for the individual and welcoming them to the session. Plan correct instruction and how to give motivation throughout their session and include how to conclude the session both for the client and for yourself. Ask a friend or family member to take part in a session using the programme.
- How will you introduce the session?
- When will you say about emergency and safety procedures?
- What is your warm-up including pulse raise and dynamic stretching?
- For a couple of exercises go through the whole NAMSIT instructions
- How can you coach and motivate clients throughout the session?
- Do you need to regress or progress at any point?
- How can you cool-down the client?
- Get feedback from your client and act upon this
- Reflect what you could have changed and what you did well
It is rare that there is just one way to respond to a scenario or situation, so do not consider that the responses you have to the above scenario will be judged as right or wrong. Share your scenario with a work colleague or friend and ask them to tell you whether they think you have responded appropriately. Ask them to challenge your response if necessary. You do not need to submit this task for assessment unless asked to do so by your assessor.
